Cayman Islands

Web development and user experience

designed to get users closer to their destination

The Challenge
The Fuseideas team has maintained and hosted the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism (CIDOT) website for over a decade, keeping the content fresh and the technology updated and secure. When it was time to upgrade to the latest version of Kentico, our clients wanted to refresh the design and streamline the site architecture to make it easier for visitors to learn more before planning their trip. The local business listings are a key feature of the website; these are housed in a Simpleview database and pulled into the site through an API integration. While this was running smoothly, it was lacking the necessary filter and search functionality to make it engaging for users.

The Insight
We wanted to improve how visitors find activities, restaurants, and accommodations. As well as tell a better story about this vibrant destination; one that features the unique qualities of each island and showcases the vibrant cultural and culinary scene in a way that feels personal to each visitor.

The Solution
The new website required more than just a facelift. It now features an improved site architecture that allows users to quickly locate content, using clear buckets and terminology that’s familiar on tourism sites. It boasts a robust search and filter system for categorizing the business listings from Simpleview, giving users more opportunities to discover businesses on the islands that may have been buried in the past. The “Book Now” call-to-action is prominent and integrated with Expedia for ease of travel bookings. Upcoming events are woven throughout key pages making them easier to find. In addition, the site is optimized for display on mobile screens, knowing that most visitors access the site on their phones. We added fresh video and imagery throughout the site and made improvements in accessibility, SEO, and site performance as part of this most recent move to the Kentico 13 platform. Finally, we also made sure the website was set up for optimal analytics tracking allowing the Fuseideas team to monitor and provide monthly reports on trends and conversions.
