The Challenge
Create a single, impactful video that could address these varied objectives while capturing the essence of the organization’s transformative work.
Insight
Girls on the Run, a nonprofit organization focused on empowering young girls through after-school programs and 5K events, required a versatile video to achieve three distinct goals:
  1. Increase awareness of their mission to inspire fundraising and community support.
  2. Recruit mentors and coaches to support their programs.
  3. Showcase their impact to school principals to encourage adoption of the program in more schools.

Solution
We proposed a comprehensive video production approach. The project spanned two days of filming to capture the program’s full scope and emotional resonance.
  • Day One: Filming at an after-school program in East Boston. This included interviews with mentors and participating girls to highlight the program's immediate impact on participants and the fulfillment mentors derive from volunteering.
  • Day Two: Coverage of the 5K event at Suffolk Downs, featuring interviews with the Executive Director, participants, and parents to showcase the broader community impact.
What Changed
The final video gave a voice to the heart, soul, and mission of Girls on the Run, providing them with a versatile tool to advance their goals. While specific quantitative results were not tracked, the video has significantly boosted the organization’s ability to:
  1. Raise awareness of their mission within the community, inspiring support and recognition.
  2. Present a compelling case to school principals, facilitating program expansion into new schools.
  3. Recruit mentors and coaches by showcasing the personal and societal impact of volunteering.
